On the opening day of our 6th annual HoCo Hobos golf trip, I recorded my first career hole-in-one at Sand Hollow Resort’s Championship Course in Hurricane, Utah.
The trip unites a close group of friends originally rooted in Howard County, Maryland, joined by longtime members from Boise, Idaho, Utah, and Washington. I was privileged to organize this year’s trip, selecting St. George, Utah. As the first group to tee off in the inaugural round, we reached the picturesque par-3 8th hole, playing 131 yards. My tee shot landed short of the pin, took several clean bounces, and gently rolled into the cup.
I was thrilled to share this special moment with my playing partners: Ben Avara, Connor Hanchett, and Kip Stroud. The achievement carried extra meaning in the company of fellow trip elders Brett Pino, Travis Rice, Bob Flagler, and Andrew Harman.
This highlight on a stunning Utah morning has become an instant and lasting memory of our annual brotherhood and golf tradition.
