Back in July 2021, just a few weeks before I found out my wife was pregnant with our first child, I had one of those perfect summer nights at the Newport Beach Golf Course or as we refer to it as The Mats.
A few of my buddies and I were playing after work, and I remember joking that my golf game was probably going to disappear once the baby arrived. That made the night feel even more special. I was completely present, enjoying the moment, thinking about all the good memories I had playing there, and knowing life was about to change in a big way.
Then came the shot.
I absolutely flushed it, and for a second we all just watched the ball roll toward the cup. When it disappeared, I could not believe it. Everyone went crazy. It was pure adrenaline, excitement, and disbelief all at once.
What made it even better was being there with close friends. Getting a hole-in-one is something every golfer dreams about, but sharing that moment with my buddies made it unforgettable. It was one of those rare golf moments that somehow becomes bigger than golf.
I will always remember that night at the Mats: a perfect summer evening, great friends, a baby girl on the way, and one swing I will never forget.
