I've been playing golf for 30 years now and have come extremely close to having a hole in one. My closest shot up until this particular round was 3 inches from the cup. I began to think it would never happen to me. The first par 3 we came to was hole #3 at Whittle Springs Golf Course in Knoxville, TN. It was a slightly downhill par 3 playing 134 yards. The wind was behind me so I chose the shorter club. My pitching wedge usually plays around 125 yards. I tried to take a nice smooth swing but truth be told, I caught it a little thin. As soon as I hit it, I said "Aw man, caught it thin. It's going to be long." As it was flying through the air, one of my playing partners says "No! It looks good!" It hits about 3 feet in front of the hole and one-hops in! I saw it go in and the next thing I knew, my friends were dog-piling on me in celebration. People from around the course heard the cheering and came to see what had happened. I was literally shaking with excitement and pure joy. They did get a video of me walking up to the hole and getting it out of the bottom of the cup. Man. What a feeling! Now the hunt begins for me 2nd hole in one.....
