Monday league night at Glenview East course in Cincinnati. Backed up and slow with at least two foursomes on every hole. #3 is a medium length par 3 with a deep and narrow green with a ridge on the back right that feeds everything left and the hole is visible from #2 green, #4 tee, and #5 green. There are groups from two different leagues on all of them. Wind was off the right with some hurt, pin was back left, lasered at 168. Hit an 8-iron slightly skinny starting 5-yards right of the pin. Thinking “not great, but should work.” Hit 20 ft short and right and started to feed towards the hole off the ridge. Disappeared when it got to the pin. Wasn’t sure if it went in or was just hiding behind the pin, so called to my buddy waiting on #4 tee to check. He walks over, looks in the hole, looks back at the tee, and after the longest pause…”It’s in the f-ing hole!” Tee box erupts with “LFG!!!” that spreads to 2, 4, and 5. Worth the 30+ year wait and the bar tab.
