We were on an epic golf trip to Wisconsin with 7 other guys. Flew in to play Erin Hills on Thursday, hit Sand Valley and Mammoth Dunes on Friday, Whistling Straits Saturday and Blackwolf Run on Sunday. After walking 72 holes in the first three days, including 18 at the Straits Course Saturday morning, we ditched our shoes, grabbed a cart and forecaddy, and played 18 barefoot at the Irish Course. The front nine wasn't anything crazy score-wise, we were just continuing to have a great time from an epic round at Straits, and continue to enjoy the perfect weather. We made the turn and I was 2-over on the back heading into 13, a 135-yard par 3 from the green tees with a punchbowl green, creek on the left and dozens of bunkers lining the back and sides of the green. As we approach the tee box, our caddy said "I witnessed a miracle here yesterday - two back-to-back hole in ones with the same group!" We chuckled in amazement and Tommy led us off with a blistered, low 8-iron that went a tad long. As we laughed about his club selection and shot, I grabbed a 9-iron, my 140-yard club. I smoothed it just past the hole and the ball started rolling back towards the cup. Since it was somewhat downhill from the tee box and only 135 yards, we could see every inch of it and knew it had a chance. Tommy yelled "GET IN THE HOLE" and we were all chanting "GO, GO, GO..." and after rolling 10-15 feet, the ball eventually vanished into the cup. We completely lost it on tee box - hugging, yelling, high-fiving, and the other four guys we were with ran over from the 14th tee box to celebrate on the 13th green. The random group behind us also gathered around the 12th green to cheer us all on, as well. My first hole in one. And to get it with 7 of my best friends on a trip of a lifetime, at one of the top courses in the world with perfect weather, I'll never forget it. I went on to stripe my drive on the 14th and shoot 2 over on the back nine for a 43-38, 81. Afterwards, we went to the bar with the caddies and celebrated properly all night. What a day. - Matt (Virginia, 34 years old, 10 handicap -June 6, 2021).
