  1. I love hats, I wear them all the time. I buy a ton of hats just because I’m always wanting something new.

I know this topic has been discussed on here before, but I really think it would be great for Titleist to revisit their hat designs, specifically when it comes to fit and materials.

I have a larger head, and Titleist hats rarely fit me. Once in a while I’ll find one, maybe 1 out of 10 and it usually feels more like a manufacturing fluke than intentional sizing. Even when I do find one that technically fits, the material tends to run hot. I know I’m not alone in this, several friends of mine have mentioned the same thing. We all want to rep our favorite brand, but the fit just isn’t there.

I’ve noticed a lot of companies collaborating with Melin, and they seem to have figured this out. I wear an XL Coronado, and it fits great. It can be a little warm at times, but the durability and structure are excellent. I’ve also seen other brands use stretch materials or spandex (FlexFit-style), which helps considerably.

Even something as simple as slightly increasing overall hat size would help, smaller heads can always tighten them down.

I understand that Titleist may not be overly focused on the hat market, but I do think they’re missing a segment here. Other companies have clearly been addressing this issue over the years.

I know Titleist tried offering XL/XXL hats in one or two styles, but without adjustability, that didn’t feel like the solution. I also hoped the flat brim style would work better, but on larger heads it still looks awkward, almost like it was scaled for a smaller profile. Especially when they came out with the trucker version of the flat brim.

Melin has figured it out. I’m hopeful that Titleist can eventually offer better options for golfers with larger heads.

As a long time wearer of Titleist hats/caps, etc. and having an extremely large head, I find comfort in finding what I need. I wear a size 8. This is an industry wide problem. I am 79 years old and have searched. Titleist premium styles do fit me very well and I have no qualms paying the price. Trucker hats in any band just do not work for me. I have worked a lot of golf events over the years and hats always come with our uniforms and have never been able to wear 90% of the brands provided. I lie the products Titleist offers and will continue supporting their offerings. When you get older, you find what works and stick with it.
  3. I appreciate that perspective. I agree completely on the importance of quality, and I don’t mind paying for it either. That’s really where my thoughts are coming from, especially since Titleist is widely seen as a premium brand.

That’s also why I wear Melin hats. They’re definitely on the higher end price-wise, but the quality, fit and durability make them worth it for me. If a product works and holds up, I’m comfortable paying more for it.

You’re right that this is an industry-wide challenge. Like you, I’ve struggled with many hats provided at events or through uniforms, and trucker styles just haven’t worked for me either. Except for when I got a hat from a tour pro that was an XL in a New Era snapback trucker. That hat is the sharpest hat I have.

It’s good to hear that some of the Titleist premium styles fit you well. I’ll always support Titleist and the products they offer. I just hope that, over time, they might look at brands like Melin, whether through collaboration or simply design inspiration to build on what’s already working and make those premium fits more consistent and accessible for golfers with larger heads.

I also have a larger head and cannot wear standard "one size fits all" hats. My club is pretty good about stocking Imperial XL hats with our logo and these seem to fit pretty well. I also seek these out at other courses but they are not easy to find. Some Imperial styles (and other manufacturers) hats come in L/XL sizes but these are still too small. Last summer I played Caledonia and they had an Imperial XXL hat and it fits great. My favorite fitting hat but this is the only one I have ever seen and I check pro shops at any course I play worthy of me wearing their hat.
