  1. Hi, I just bought a set of Titleist CB 716 that has a shaft that weighs 120 grams. I used to play the AP1 that weighs 95 grams but I wanted to try something heavier. The feel of the CB is excellent but the distance is a bit off. I also felt that I was a bit tired and I feel like the forgiveness of the club is pretty low. I am 14 years old and I my handicap is 9. I am wondering if this is too heavy or too hard for me. Thank you.

First, I hope that you were properly fitted for your new irons. You should never buy clubs based on how they look or who on Tour plays them.

I expect that the CBs are about a club shorter than your AP1s. Most of that is due to the difference in loft between the two irons. The AP1s are about 1 club stronger loft than the CBs.

The CB is not as forgiving as the AP1 and needs some time to adjust to.

As to the question about weight or difficulty, please see you PGA Pro. Without being able to see your swing or how well you swing each club it is impossible to give you proper advice.

Assuming standard swing weight for these clubs the overall weight per club would be .84 ounces more than the AP1's so likely not a significant factor on its own, however, if you were to carry 9 irons this is an additional 7.5 pounds which could contribute to your getting tired- as your overall strength increases this will go away. As long as you continue to improve don't be concerned- the decision whether to make model and/or shaft changes should be well into the future.

Correction- the increased weight over 9 irons would be only 7.5 ounces i.e. less than 1/2 pound so should not be a major contributor to fatique.
