i bought a set of custom fitted dci990 irons thru titleist about ten years ago.  i am trying to decide if i am going to order new clubs from titleist or have my existing clubs re-finished.  i was wondering, in your current line of clubs, which ones are closest to the 990's that i am playing now?

  2. Hi Tyrus -

There is not a direct replacement for the 990 in the new 710 line.  Based on the club-head size, offset and cavity of the 990 the closest match in the 710 is the CB iron.  Since you were custom fit for you 990s 10 years ago, we would recommend that you do the same for the 710.  You may visit www.fittingworks.com to find a local fitter or call us directly to speak with a Team Titleist representative about finding the proper location in your area to be fit for a set of our current model irons.

    Nick,

Would you say that the CB's are the closest to the 990b as well?

I would recommend you purchase the new 710 CB irons as a replacement set. I play the 690 MB irons but have just bought a 2-Iron in the 710 CB range and it is just awersome. I'm carrying it 225 yards through the air and am generally it aroung 245 - 250 yards. Playing on a links course (Alnmouth GC), which is the forth oldest in England, it is so good for windy conditions and also quite forgiving. Hope this helps your decision.
