If my Drive shaft has begun to splinter, about a foot from the hosel, is it still playable or do I risk losing control, yards or worse, maybe cause injury, if I continue to use it? Image uploaded is not the best but hope you get an idea.

If it were mine I would have it checked out to ensure that it is not fractured/cracked, with a local professional repair shop. Cannot not say I have ever seen this condition. Have you hit the club against something?

You should stop using that driver right away. The shaft is in danger of breaking and that will present a very dangerous situation if it happens when you hit the ball.

Time to get a new shaft. It will eventually fail and you do not want to injure anyone.

At that point, performance is compromised. However, I'd be more concerned about handling it and potentially getting a cut or splinter from the sharp edges. Hopefully you have the SureFit adapter and a shaft can be easily swapped out.

This is a safety issue. Graphite shattering is not like a steel shaft and will splinter into made sharp pieces. I would get this club out of play immediately.
    Sorry for your misfortune.
