  1. I want to replace original vintage AP1 irons with Aldila ProtoT 75g R flex graphites. My HC index trends to 8.0. I like these irons, but would like more distance and advantages of newer head design. I know the loft on 7 is 31 degrees in the 716 vs 33 in the original. I'd like to stay with R flex and would like thoughts on the Kurokage 65,63,61g diffs. On Friday I hit M2s with Kurokage 80g and will rule them out. I like the look of the new 716 and will get fitted to mirror my 2 degree upright extra 1/2 inch shafts I have. I'd like to hear some thoughts on the 3 Kurokage shaft wgts now I'm 63, not 55 when I bought the AP1s.

i did the same thing as you - trading older AP1 for new 716 AP1. I'm 58 and 10 handicap. I thought I would be going from stiff Nippon 850 to graphite. I went to two different fittings with the same rep - just to make sure I could account for any differences from day-to-day. To my surprise I ended up with steel Nippon 950 Regular Flex, which blew my mind. I thought for sure that lighter shafts would help me more. But, it turns out that the flex was more important and the 950 weight gave me more kick behind the ball.
  3. Thanks
