New Ball, First Ace

New Ball, First Ace

It was the last day of February. Cold (40), soggy, and rainy. I had done a virtual ball fitting with Luke Staudt back in December, got my samples, and was excited to try out the Pro V1x's for the first time. It was our 14th hole in our shotgun start (7th hole on the scorecard). I gunned the distance at 134 yards. Given the temperature and the rain, I decided to club up and took out my 9 Iron. I took a nice an easy swing and hit a flighted little butter cut starting just left of the pin. I thought I would end up around 15 feet left but the ball kept cutting. The ball landed about 6 inches behind the pin, one hopped back and disappeared. I couldn't tell if it was just hiding behind the pin at first, but as I moved to the side, I couldn't see a ball! Celebrations ensued as I wrote the 1 on the card. I wrote my name on the pin sheet and placed the stick directly in the cup confident my Ace would not be matched. Thanks Luke and Titleist. That Pro V1x will hang on my wall forever.
