I had been using a 9.2r which is beautiful putter, but I seem to have struggled with distance control and shorter putts.

Went back to my Newport 2 and had probably the best putting round I have had in a year yesterday. Needless to say I will sticking my Newport 2 for the foreseeable future, but curious if anyone else in the TT community experienced this also.

I will also throw a couple pictures on here as well ;)

Thanks.
[View:http://www.titleist.com/discussion-images/jpg//teamtitleist/cfs-file/__key/acushnet-telligent-discussions-attachments/discussions-300-00/onuusm51cy3lskqsdixu:550:0][View:http://www.titleist.com/discussion-images/jpg//teamtitleist/cfs-file/__key/acushnet-telligent-discussions-attachments/discussions-300-00/banad2yflgawdlg9s2iy:550:0][View:http://www.titleist.com/discussion-images/jpg//teamtitleist/cfs-file/__key/acushnet-telligent-discussions-attachments/discussions-300-00/sxhrnp8utisjs8koi8ky:550:0][View:http://www.titleist.com/discussion-images/jpg//teamtitleist/cfs-file/__key/acushnet-telligent-discussions-attachments/discussions-300-00/hmc5ai1qvzvuk79gzg8m:550:0][View:http://www.titleist.com/discussion-images/jpg//teamtitleist/cfs-file/__key/acushnet-telligent-discussions-attachments/discussions-300-00/ezjyq3hozx6nbdzpl4ut:550:0]

Rusting?

Hey y'all!

My girlfriend bought a Phantom 5.5 back in January and the head is showing some really bad signs of rusting already. She hasn't used it more than maybe 10 times on the course and takes really good care of her gear. Never leaving it in her car, never lets it go uncleaned after a round etc.

I have had a 5.5 for almost 3 seasons now and don't have any signs of rust at all. Any suggestions? I repainted the soul so I'm afraid a warranty won't be an option.

Would love and appreciate any and all kind recommendations!

RE: Rusting?

No mention of where it was purchased. Was it purchased from a Titleist account, on eBay. See issues below, that can cause rusting on golf clubs. If it was purchased thru a Titleist account (golf shop, retail store, etc) take it back to that store with your sales receipt and have them contact Titleist customer service.

Cleaning and Care for Titleist Golf Clubs
Titleist drivers, woods, hybrids, irons and wedges can be cleaned with mild soap and water and then dried with a soft cotton cloth. We recommend your golf clubs and headcover be completely dry before storage. Storing golf clubs in wet headcovers can lead to rust and corrosion and may not be covered by the warranty.

Cleaning and Care for Carbon Steel Scotty Cameron Putters
The unique feel of certain Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter models results from the use of milled carbon steel heads. This material is susceptible to oxidation and rusting if left damp. To preserve the natural finish of these putter models, you are urged to follow a few simple guidelines:

• Always dry your putter at the end of the day. We also suggest drying the putter a few times during the round.
• Always use a dry headcover.
• Never leave your putter in damp or cold atmospheres.

The Gun Blue, Oil Can and Teryllium series putters are most susceptible to oxidation so please follow these guidelines carefully. The Pro Platinum finish is more durable due to the plating between the soft carbon steel and the elements, but care should be taken to avoid dings that can rust.

It would be rare to see rusting on a stainless steel putter like the phantom 5.5. Maybe if the putter was wet and in a putter cover for a significant time (months) some small areas of surface rust "could" appear.

9.5 R

I see all these social media posts about Cameron Young's putter, and hear that it's a great option for players who've used a Newport. Ok, great. That's me, and I love the more rounded look, and single, long sight line. Why hasn't this been brought to retail? I just found, and recently purchased a 2024 Phantom 9.5, probably in a moment of panic. I love the sound and feel. I can't stand the sharper edges though, and don't get me started on the grip. This full contact, chain link grip is the worst grip I've ever seen on a Scotty. Couldn't wait to replace it. C'mon, Scotty! Make the 9.5 R. Don't put a Mike Tyson- like face tattoo for the alignment either. I've seen those in the Tour Only line.

RE: Rusting?

Any chance it's a "replica" ?

RE: Rusting?

Any pictures by chance? I can’t really quantify the shaft or set up differences from the OTR 7 but this looks amazing. The black finish is perfect and the feel of the chain link face is fantastic. The grip choice also works well for any standard grips or claw/pencil variations.

The best way I can describe the set up is that it’s “point and shoot”. I was very impressed with how much I naturally set up correct with it and didn’t require more adjustments, and the putts just kept rolling down the line, only needing speed adjustments. I feel like the more variables, we can remove, the more putts we’ll make.

Looking forward to reading what everyone else thinks.
[View:http://www.titleist.com/discussion-images/jpg//teamtitleist/cfs-file/__key/acushnet-telligent-discussions-attachments/discussions-300-00/bz3owrqjm3g3gmcdgxl0:550:0]

Gallery Fitting - Gallery Visit

Hello All! Needless to say, I was on cloud nine the whole weekend!

RE: Cameron Gallery Experience

I actually just went the weekend of 04/10 - 04/13 and it was an incredible experience. I did the fitting experience and found it to be very interesting. I posted this on the travel thread but though I would also post it here.

I wanted to ask for some insight and advice.

For my 40th birthday, my wonderful wife gifted me a plane ticket to San Diego (oddly one-way) to visit the Scotty Cameron Gallery and booked a tee time for me at Aviara Golf Club. Sadly, Torrey was full up.

Has anyone had any recent experiences at the gallery and could provide advice or feedback?

Reviews I have read are rather dated, 2-3 years ago or older.

I’ve never been to CA and I’m very excited! I head that way in a couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance.

When I went to my local golf shop, I was able to roll the 5.5 and felt I was able to put a much smoother stroke and my start lines were a lot better compared to the 5.2. I then took it to their shop to get the lie/loft adjusted and they said they were unable to bend it due to the jet neck.

Could that just be a limitation of the shop there or is the stock 5.5 not adjustable and I'll just have to custom order it to get to the specs I was fitted into? Appreciate any insight!

Center Shaft Blades

Zero Torque or “Square to Square” is a hot putter style right now obv.. I am a fan of old school center shaft newports (etc.). These are the sexiest straight back straight through putting option IMO.

Sharing a photo of my gamer (1-1 poor mans CT) sent to custom shop a few years back..

Would kove to see others of this style. Scotty needs to do another 2.6 soon! Starting this to share some other OG zero arc straight through thinkers over the rock. But only the pure blades! No comparison to some of the space ships out there these days!
[View:http://www.titleist.com/discussion-images/jpg//teamtitleist/cfs-file/__key/acushnet-telligent-discussions-attachments/discussions-300-00/p1vf4a1wy6ojeo1mcpru:550:0]

RE: Center Shaft Blades

That club looks awesome. The Pistolero has a very large (front to back) "axe handle" upper section and feels horrible (to me). Both are to heavy (80g +) for my preferred swing weight with a 350g head weight and 34" length

All that said the Cameron grip I game is a Studio Design or Baby T. Others that fit my "like" and swing weigh preference are Iomic classic tour and Super Stroke Pistol tour
