without weights these putters are round about 280 grams.

traditionally scotty would put the 35" at 330g, the 34 at 340g and the 33 (cameron and crown more recently) at 350g

this has changed with the special select.

empty these heads are 280g.

so the 35" has 60g of sole weighting, making it 340

the 34" has 70g of sole weighting making it 350

and i'd presume the 33 has 80g of sole weighting making it 360

so he's basically shifted head weights up 10g from where he used to have them.

now this is good and bad depending on what you like.

if you like a heavy putter you don't have much room to go up. you're not going to get a weight that will screw into these putters heavier than 40. so if you play a short putter you're pretty well maxed.

however if you were to go look at say a 2014 studio select (where the empty head weight is 310g), you could go as high as 390g in the head, instead of 360. this is a big deal for people who like a heavier putter.

in the name of MOI, scotty slimmed down the entire design of the special select so he could put more weight in the heel and toe to increase forgiveness, but he sort of alienated the heavy putter fans in the process IMO.

either way the new special select line is absolutely gorgeous. i'd love to add one to the stable, but we'll see. i'm putting really well with my old newport beach at the moment.

I called the Scotty Cameron shop, the new 2020 special select Newport 2 @ 34" is 353gr head weight with the 35g weights in it

From what I have seen , a 34" Special Select 2.5 (blade) will weigh 360 grams , that is 290 gram head + (2) 35 gram weights . All of the blades in this line start out at 290grams. I am looking at getting a 33.5 " Special , so not sure if they would have 35 or 40 gram weights

I always assumed the putters were 350 grams at 34" +/- 10 grams per inch of shaft removed/added.

May be wrong but I believe 350 is what the standard for Scotty is now.
