For me, going to ranges that have Top Tracer or similar software is satisfactory without paying for my own Launch Monitor. Yes, the range balls are a bit more pricey, but i can justify that by not having the expense of the LM.

Will you have an indoor simulator setup? If using only on a range, the easier and quicker setup with a smart phone app is far more practical. I think you have already answered your own question.
