Gary Woodland Trusts His Pro V1 in Comeback Victory at the Texas Children's Houston Open

PGA TOUR | Texas Children's Houston Open

Locked in with his Pro V1 golf ball from start to finish, Gary Woodland gained over nine shots from tee to green on the field (+9.728) this week in Houston on his way to a decisive five-shot victory.

Woodland, who also claimed his 2019 U.S. Open victory playing a Pro V1 model, hit 81% greens in regulation (2nd) while gaining over 5.5 strokes on approach (+5.596).
Woodland posted rounds of 64-63-65-67 while leading the field with 26 birdies. He only made five bogeys the entire week.
Woodland’s victory marks the fourth win in four weeks for Titleist golf ball players, following wins by Matt Fitzpatrick (Pro V1x, Valspar Championship), Cameron Young (Pro V1x prototype, THE PLAYERS) and Ricky Castillo (Pro V1, Puerto Rico Open).
In total, 73% of the field at the Houston Open (99 players) teed up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, nine times the nearest competitor (11 players).

“I love it. One for spin characteristics, especially with me with the driver. I'm a high-spin guy, a high-speed guy. So the Pro V1 brings that spin down a little bit for me. I’m able to spin it around the green so, for me, having the versatility with perfect spin with the driver and I still get the speed to control spin around the greens. It's been a perfect combination for me.”
“I grew up playing in a lot of wind, so I like to flight the golf ball down, so I feel like I’m in way more control of the golf ball with lower spin for me. NEW GTS DRIVERS LAUNCH ON TOUR; MORE THAN 50 PLAYERS PUT NEW MODELS IMMEDIATELY IN PLAY ACROSS PGA TOUR, LPGA & KFT

In their first chance to game the NEW Titleist GTS drivers in competition, more than 50 players across events on the PGA TOUR, LPGA and Korn Ferry Tour chose to put NEW GTS2, GTS3 and GTS4 models immediately in play on Thursday.
On the PGA TOUR, 24 players put a NEW GTS driver right in the bag at the Texas Children’s Houston Open.
- Eighteen players used a GTS2 model (tied as the field’s most played driver model) while six played GTS3.
- That list featured four of Houston’s top 10 players in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee, including:
  - Johnny Keefer, who made the immediate move to his GTS2 10.0° driver and gained over three shots off the tee (+3.669, 5th) on his way to a T3 finish, the best of his young career.
  - Sudarshan Yellamaraju, who put his GTS2 9.0° in the bag before finishing T6, his second-straight top-10 finish.
  - Yellamaraju gained over two-and-a-half shots on the field off the tee (+2.780, 10th).
  - The sixth-ranked player in SG: Off-the-Tee (+3.535) moved straight from his GT2 8.0° into a GTS2 8.0, while No. 9 in SG: Off-the-Tee (+3.028) switched to a GTS2 8.0° driver from a competitor’s model.
  - In addition, the T39-finisher, who posted a final-round 66, made his first cut of the season after switching to a GTS2 10.0° model from a competitor’s driver.
- Overall, 51 players gamed a Titleist driver (38%) for the week at Memorial Park, as Titleist continues to be the most played driver on the PGA TOUR.
At the Korn Ferry Tour’s Club Car Championship, 20 players put GTS in play including the eventual champion Davis Lamb (GTS2 9.0°).
- Lamb was one of 11 players who teed up a GTS2 model. Seven played GTS3 and two GTS4.
At the LPGA’s Ford Championship, nine players stepped to the first tee Thursday with GTS drivers in the bag.
- Six players played GTS3 models, two gamed GTS2 and one played GTS4.
- Frida Kinhult, who put GTS3 9.0° right in the bag, earned her season-best finish (T6), hitting 84% fairways.

LPGA | Ford Championship

Hyo Joo Kim (Pro V1x) made it wins in back-to-back weeks and successfully defended her title at the Ford Championship, posting 28 under to win by two in Arizona.

Kim’s week was highlighted by a pair of 11-under 61’s on Thursday and Saturday, featuring a combined 18 birdies and two eagles.
The win, her ninth career LPGA victory, sees Kim rise to No. 1 in the Race to CME Globe rankings.
She has recorded finishes of solo 3rd, T21, 1st and 1st in four starts this season with a 67.625 scoring average.

DP WORLD TOUR | Hero Indian Open

Alex Fitzpatrick (Pro V1x) birdied five of seven holes during his Sunday back nine to break through for his first career DP World Tour title with a two-shot win in Gurugram.

The 27-year-old Englishman shot rounds 70-68-72-69 while converting a field-best 27 birdies.
Fitzpatrick was in full control of his Pro V1x golf ball, gaining over 10 shots (+10.52) tee to green (8th).
Each one of the top-10 finishers teed up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, with 79% of the field (109 players) gaming a Titleist.
Titleist was also the most played driver (38%), iron (32%) and wedge (46%).

KORN FERRY TOUR | Club Car Championship

Gaming a setup that includes his Pro V1 golf ball and brand-new GTS2 driver, Titleist Brand Ambassador Davis Lamb carded a bogey-free 68 to win his first KFT title by two in Savannah.

The 28-year-old was dialed from tee to green, hitting 77% FIR (T11) and 81% GIR (T2), which set him up for 23 birdies over four rounds at The Landings.
He got up-and-down for par on 10 of 14 attempts (71%, T9) with his NEW Vokey Design SM11 wedges and averaged 1.62 putts per GIR (5th) with his Scotty Cameron Newport 2 blade putter.

LAMB WINS IN 1st WEEK WITH GTS2 DRIVER; ADDS U•505 4-IRON

On Monday in Savannah, Davis Lamb tested the new Titleist GTS2 driver for the first time.
On Thursday, Lamb’s new GTS2 9-degree model was in the bag as he stepped to the first tee. On Sunday, he brought it to the winner’s circle.
Lamb, one of 20 players who made the immediate move to GTS in its first week on the KFT, was first introduced to his new driver on the range Monday by Titleist Tour Rep Chris Eikenberg.
After a roughly 30-minute session comparing the GTS2 against his gamer GT2, Lamb confirmed with Eikenberg that he could put it in play on Thursday.
“He was pretty pumped and excited to get it in play,” Eikenberg said. “He felt like he could go after a little bit more. Really loved the sound and the feel. We left it in a good spot and obviously it worked out very well for him, which was awesome to see.”
Lamb was one of 11 players who played GTS2 models this week in Savannah. Seven played GTS3 with two GTS4 setups going in play.
Another change to Lamb’s setup this week came at the top end of his blended T-Series iron setup.
Lamb plays the 2025 T100 irons in his 5-iron through pitching wedge and previously had been gaming a T150 4-iron.
Looking for more peak height and stopping power, he moved into a U•505 4-iron, which flew 15 feet higher and carried five yards more than his T150.

PGA TOUR OF AUSTRALASIA | The National Tournament

Titleist Brand Ambassador Cameron John (Pro V1) made birdie on the first playoff hole to win his 3rd PGA TOUR of Australasia title of ’25-26 and earn full status on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2027.

John, gaming his Pro V1 golf ball and full bag of Titleist equipment, recorded rounds of 73-70-66-68 in the season finale, matching the four-round total (277) of Titleist Brand Ambassador Daniel Gale (Pro V1).
Travis Smyth (Pro V1) finished No. 1 on the PGA Tour of Australasia’s Order of Merit, securing DP World Tour status for next season.
In total, 74% of the field teed up a Titleist golf ball this week in Gunnamatta (56 players), four times the nearest competitor.
Titleist was also the most played driver with 35 players (46%).

PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS | Hoag Classic

Stewart Cink (Pro V1) earned his second win of the season, carding rounds of 66-62-66 to win by four.

Cink’s ball-striking was exceptional this week, as he hit 46 of 54 GIR (85%, T1) on his way to his sixth career Champions Tour title.
The shot of the week came in Round 2 on the par-5 18th, when Cink holed his Pro V1 from the fairway for an albatross, opening up a three-shot lead heading into Sunday.

SUNSHINE TOUR | The Courier Guy Playoffs: DNi Tour Championship

In the final event of the 2025-26 Sunshine Tour season, Marin Vorster (Pro V1x) broke through for his first career victory.

He made five birdies and an eagle on Sunday, closing in 66 and securing a two-shot win.
Titleist Brand Ambassador Luis Carrera locked up Rookie of the Year honors after a multi-win campaign in ‘25-26.
Carrera was the winner of Sunshine Tour Q-School as well as the first two events of the ‘25-26 season, becoming the first player in tour history to win all three in succession.

JLPGA | AXA LADIES GOLF TOURNAMENT in MIYAZAKI

Saki Nagamine (Pro V1) came home in 6-under 30 to post a final-round 66 and win by two.

Nagamine’s back nine included birdies on each of her final four holes.
She also made an eagle on No. 10 and another birdie on No. 12.
The win marks her fourth career JLPGA title.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Hyo Joo Kim Trust Pro V1x to Win the Valspar Championship and Fortinet Founders Cup

PGA TOUR | Valspar Championship (Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club

In absolute control of his Pro V1x golf ball, Matt Fitzpatrick led the field with over 11 strokes gained tee-to-green this week at Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course, birdieing the 72nd hole to claim the one-shot victory.

Fitzpatrick was the only player to post four rounds in the 60s (68-69-68-68) while going bogey-free over his final 36 holes.
Fitzpatrick was dialed-in with his ball-striking, gaining nearly six shots on the field with his approach play (+5.939, 2nd).
He hit 72% GIR (2nd) and finished second in Proximity with an average of 32 feet, 3 inches.
Fitzpatrick led a 1-2-3 finish for Titleist golf ball players, followed by runner-up David Lipsky (Pro V1x) and third-place finisher Jordan Smith (Pro V1), as eight of the top 10 and 21 of the top 25 finishers played a Pro V1 or Pro V1x.

“There’s obviously so many different variables with a golf ball. I’ve always been kind of a lower flight player but I am kind of high spin, so that’s where I feel like my game is at with the golf ball. To be able to rely on the golf ball and know that it’s going to do what I want it to do – have a consistent flight, consistent spin with every shot that I hit – that’s so important. Having that ability to know what your ball is going to do rather than second guessing makes a hell of a difference and obviously makes you more comfortable. And from there you’re going to hit better golf shots. I love the golf ball that I’m in, it just works perfectly for my game.”
“The reason [Pro V1x] is so good for me is feel. I like the harder feel off the club face. I just feel like the spin’s consistent, the flight’s consistent, and that’s what you need in a golf ball. You don’t need it kind of in different windows. It’s nice to have that consistency to have the confidence in the golf ball to know how far it’s going to go every time, and to be within a really tight deviation is obviously so important. This is a game of inches after all, the margins are so fine you want it to be as tight as possible. So that’s why I play Pro V1x because it’s exactly that, you know what you’re going to get every shot and you don’t get any strange effects from shots.”

LPGA | Fortinet Founders Cup

Hyo Joo Kim (Pro V1x) went wire-to-wire to win LPGA title No. 8, trusting her Pro V1x golf ball to a one-shot victory in Northern California.

Kim opened with the week’s best round, a 9-under 63 capped by an eagle on the par-5 18th.
Kim was one of 103 players (71%) this week playing a Titleist golf ball, with three of the top four finishers gaming a Pro V1 or Pro V1x.

DP World Tour / China Tour | Hainan Classic

Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Gumberg made a field-best 25 birdies at Mission Hills on his way to a wire-to-wire win, his second on the DP World Tour.

Gaming a setup that included his Pro V1 golf ball, GT metals, blended set of Titleist irons, Vokey Design wedges and Scotty Cameron Phantom putter, Gumberg followed an opening 8-under 64 with three more rounds of 70 or better (66-69-70) on his way to a one-shot victory.
The 30-year-old American’s control of his Pro V1 golf ball was on full display in Hainan, as he gained more than 10 shots (+10.36) from tee to green (3rd).
Over five strokes came from his approach play (+5.16, 8th), and he hit 74% greens in regulation (8th).
He also had total command of his GT3 driver, gaining +5.04 strokes off-the-tee (4th) and finishing tied for 5th in Driving Accuracy (86%).
Gumberg, who kept his DPWT card with a dramatic hole-out eagle on the 72nd hole of the Genesis Championship in Korea last October, was also dialed around the greens with his Vokey wedges, converting 14 of 19 up-and-downs to finish T10 in Scrambling (74%).
On the greens, he ranked 6th in SG: Putting with his Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.2R tour prototype putter, gaining over five shots (+5.4).
Gumberg led a 1-through-8 finish for Pro V1 and Pro V1x players, as Titleist was the overwhelming #1 golf ball at Mission Hills (78%).
11-time China Tour winner and Titleist Brand Ambassador Yanhan Zhou recorded rounds of 68-68-68-69 to reach 15-under and secure a T3 finish on home soil.
The 17-year-old earned his 2026 DP World Tour card after a record-breaking 2025 China Tour season highlighted by seven wins and an Order of Merit title.

Now on Tour: Titleist GTS Drivers

Titleist continues to be the most played driver on the PGA TOUR, further underscored by THE PLAYERS Champion Cameron Young and last Sunday’s historic drive down the 18^th fairway at TPC Sawgrass with his Titleist GT driver. Young, the runner-up and five of the top-7 finishers all had a Titleist driver in the bag at the Stadium Course.

Tomorrow, for the first time, PGA TOUR players in the field at the Texas Children’s Houston Open are getting their first look at the next generation of Titleist driver technology: GTS.

The lineup of three new Titleist driver models — GTS2, GTS3 and GTS4 — is also being introduced to players at this week's LPGA Ford Championship and the Korn Ferry Tour’s Club Car Championship.

Constant collaboration between Titleist R&D and the world’s best is deeply ingrained in Titleist’s product development cycle. As the game’s most discerning players, tour pros are an essential resource in designing and validating innovations that will outperform the prior generation.

“I’m pumped,” said Titleist Brand Ambassador Michael Brennan following a prototype testing session late last year. “I was disappointed I couldn’t play it, put it right in the bag. I love my GT, but I’m looking forward to the ‘S’ coming out here soon.”

Thursday will mark the first opportunity for tour players to game the new GTS drivers in competition.

In 2025 on the PGA TOUR, Titleist was the most played driver brand for the seventh straight season, accounting for 40% of all drivers played according to Darrell Survey.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Cameron Young Wins THE PLAYERS Championship

Fearless down the stretch at TPC Sawgrass, Titleist Brand Ambassador Cameron Young (Titleist Pro V1x prototype) closed out the week with a bogey-free, three-birdie back nine to become THE PLAYERS Champion.

Playing a Pro V1x prototype golf ball and 14 Titleist clubs, Young posted a 4-under 68 Sunday to finish the week 13 under, one shot clear of Matt Fitzpatrick (Pro V1x).
Young's control of his Titleist golf ball was on full display this week in Ponte Vedra, as he gained nearly 10 shots (+9.840) tee to green (5th).
That included +7.076 strokes gained on approach shots (3rd), while leading the event in Proximity with an average of 28 feet, 1 inch.
On Sunday, he averaged a field-best 24 feet, 11 inches to the hole, making birdies on No. 1 (15 feet, 3 inches), No. 7 (3 feet, 4 inches), No. 10 (14 feet, 9 inches), No. 13 (3 feet, 9 inches) and No. 17 (9 feet, 7 inches).
Young’s birdie on the infamous island-green 17th on Sunday was his third straight, becoming the first PLAYERS champion to make birdie there in each of his final three rounds. On Saturday, he hit his tee shot to 21 inches.
Young also led the field in Scrambling, getting up and down on 16 of 21 attempts. He gained nearly five shots (+4.813) putting.
It was a 1-2 finish for Pro V1x and GT3 drivers, as five of the top seven finishers played a Titleist golf ball and driver. Six of the top seven had at least two Vokey wedges in the bag, while four gamed Titleist iron sets.
Overall, Titleist was the overwhelming #1 ball (68%) and most played driver (35%), iron (30%) and wedge (50%) among the elite 123-player field.

‘IT MAKES GOLF EASIER FOR ME’: CAMERON YOUNG EARNS 2ND WIN AFTER MOVE TO PRO V1x PROTOTYPE GOLF BALL

With his victory at THE PLAYERS, Cameron Young has now won twice with seven top-10's in 11 starts since moving to a new Titleist Pro V1x prototype golf ball that he had been collaborating on with the Titleist Golf Ball R&D team.
Titleist R&D is constantly soliciting feedback from the world's best players on the performance of their golf ball and their evolving performance needs. This process will often result in the development of new prototypes, some of which are designed to finely tune very specific flight, spin and feel characteristics.
These Custom Performance Options (CPOs) – such as Pro V1 Left Dot and Pro V1x Left Dash – play an important role in the discovery of new technological advancements that are frequently incorporated into next generation Pro V1 and Pro V1x models. CPOs also provide key learnings in the continued development of more robust custom performance options for all golfers and their unique launch conditions.
“Fitting’s tremendously important,” Young said. “I mean, at a lower level, it can make a huge difference. At our level, it makes smaller differences in a sense, but huge differences because we have so much more experience and have so much more feel than your average golfer. And that all just kind of creeps into how we play. So, little tiny changes can make a huge difference to us.”
During a visit to the Titleist Performance Center at Manchester Lane (Acushnet, Mass.), Young, who was previously playing Pro V1 Left Dot, spent a range session with Fordie Pitts, Titleist’s Director of Tour Research & Validation, testing early iterations of what would eventually become the ball he used to win his first PGA TOUR title.
“The first time I hit it (at Manchester Lane) was kind of blind testing,” Young said. “Just immediately, the window it came out of was really nice. I really liked that the top of the flight looked like it just came back down. I’ve never liked to see anything floating and so that just really indicated a real consistency.”
Late last summer at the Wyndham Championship, Pitts approached Young to let him know that the final Pro V1x prototypes were now available to play in competition.
“We weren’t sure if he was going to test it [that] week, but as he was warming up, he asked to hit a couple on the range,” Pitts said. “He was then curious to see some shots out on the course.”
Young, accompanied by Pitts, teed off Sedgefield’s first hole with both Left Dot and the Pro V1x prototype. By the second hole, he was exclusively hitting shots with the Pro V1x.
“And kind of right off the bat, hit a couple wedges into 1 and 2 at Sedgefield and we were just like, ‘This makes golf easier for me,’” Young said. “So it was a really immediate just kind of thing among my dad, caddie and Fordie were all just like, ‘This makes perfect sense.’ ”
Said Pitts: “He was hitting tight draws everywhere. His misses were staying more in play. He hit some, what he would call ‘11 o'clock shots,’ where again he's taking a little something off it. He had great control there.”
Further validation came on the seventh hole, a par 3 that played between 184 and 225 yards during the tournament. The setup on Tuesday's practice round called for a 5-iron from Young, who thought there was “no way” he could fly a 6-iron to the flag with his Left Dot.
“He then hits this 6-iron [with the Pro V1x prototype] absolutely dead at the flag, and it lands right next to the pin, ending up just past it,” Pitts said. “And his response was, ‘remarkable.’ He couldn’t believe that he got that club there.”
After the nine-hole practice round on Tuesday, Pitts walked with Young for nine more holes on Wednesday. Following the round, Young asked the team to put the Pro V1x prototypes in his locker. The results were immediate. Young opened the week 63-62, making 16 birdies over the two rounds before running away with a six-shot victory, his first on the PGA TOUR.

Tied for the lead on Sunday at THE PLAYERS, Cameron Young stepped to the 18th tee and pulled the GT3 11-degree driver that he had moved into just the week prior at Bay Hill.
Facing TPC Sawgrass’ most treacherous tee shot with the wind at his back, Young unleashed a 375-yard drive around the lake down the right side of the fairway.
It was the longest drive ever recorded on that hole in the ShotLink Era.
Said Young: “My thought process over that ball is, one, making sure that I’m committed to my line, and two, the overarching thought is ‘I’m going to hit the best shot of my life right here.’ I don't know if I can think of one that's better... first time that thought's really popped in my mind, and I think I did what I intended. It’s one of the best shots I've ever hit in my life.”
Since his switch to a new Pro V1x prototype golf ball late last season, Young has worked with J.J. Van Wezenbeeck, Titleist’s Senior Director of Player Promotions, to further dial in the top end of his bag.

After making an initial move from his GT2 9.0° into a GT2 10.0°, Young, who has also been working through some swing changes, thought there was an opportunity to further optimize his carry distance. In working with Van Wezenbeeck at Bay Hill, they moved to the 11-degree GT3 head, lofted down to 10.25 in the D•1 Surefit hosel setting, resulting in higher launch without impacting spin.
The new setup took his launch conditions from 9 degrees at 2400 RPMs to 11/2500.
Following his golf ball change, Young has also added a GT1 14.5 fairway and GT1 20.0 hybrid to the top end of his bag. The 14.5-degree GT1 fairway, which Young added to the bag after testing this past offseason, is a tour-inspired model designed to produce effortless launch and stability while keeping spin in a low, playable window. It is packaged in GT1’s shallow fairway profile, but a stronger loft and lower center of gravity from its multi-material construction drive down spin compared to standard GT1 fairways.
Earlier this year at the Farmers Insurance Open, Young was looking to increase launch in his hybrid. After working with reps onsite, he added a GT1 hybrid with a Mitsubishi Diamana PD 80TX fairway wood shaft, which increased his peak height and gave him even more consistency than his previous hybrid gamer.

GT1 hybrids feature a sharper leading edge that sits low to the turf, helping produce easy launch and more playability out of the rough. They also both have fore-aft weight adjustability, which allows Titleist tour reps to lower spin and still maintain launch by moving weight forward in the head. The result is a high, strong ball flight that doesn’t over-spin.

YOUNG LEADS THE FIELD IN PROXIMITY WITH BLENDED TITLEIST IRON SET, CUSTOM BLADE IRONS

For his irons, Young plays a blended set comprised of a T200 4-iron, a T100 5-iron and 631.CY prototype 6-9 irons. Young's T-Series long irons give him optimal peak heights and gapping through the top end of his iron setup.
Young’s custom blades were designed with a pre-worn leading edge and a slightly wider sole to help reduce dig and improve turf interaction for Young’s delivery. Titleist R&D also moved weight lower in the head for slightly higher launch and peak height.
Said Young on the development process: “It started just as basically a question. It was, ‘Hey, if your irons could do anything different what would they do?’ I said, ‘help me not dig quite as quickly into the ground at impact, and if anything, launch a little higher.’”

“I think it was one year from then they came and handed me a blank iron and said, ‘here, hit this,’” Young continued. “And I hit about three shots. They said, ‘what do you think?’ I said, ‘that seems great.’ Didn't hear from him for about six more months. And then they handed me a 6-iron and I said, ‘that feels great.’ And then all of a sudden, bang, I had my own set, and I wouldn't change anything about them. They’re honestly everything I could have ever asked for.”
This week at TPC Sawgrass, Young led the field in Proximity (28’ 1”) while gaining over seven shots on the field with his approach play (+7.076, 3rd). He also hit 71% GIR over the four rounds (8th).
Young, who has been working through some swing changes, also spent time with Van Wezenbeeck last month at Riviera to dial in the lie angles on his short irons, moving them more upright to produce his desired start lines.

YOUNG WINS WITH NEW VOKEY SM11 WEDGES, LEADS FIELD IN SCRAMBLING

Staring down the 134-yard 17th hole on Sunday, one shot back of the lead, Cameron Young pulled his NEW Vokey Design SM11 56.14F (@ 57) sand wedge and stuck his approach to within 10 feet, setting up a clutch final birdie of his week. It was his third birdie on the 17th in as many rounds, having rolled in a 24-footer on Friday and flagged his tee shot to inside two feet on Saturday.
In addition to his approach play, Young was also dialed around the greens with his entire set of SM11 wedges — 48.10F, 52.12F, 56.14F (@ 57), WedgeWorks 60K* (@ 62) — as he converted 16 of 21 up-and-downs for a field-best 76% clip.

Over the past four years, Young has worked closely with Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill to dial in his wedge setup. One of the key changes involved moving from a 56-degree (@ 57) M Grind to, eventually, a 56.14F (@ 57), which improved consistency in carry numbers from distance and gave him more purpose greenside with his sand wedge.
Another change to Young's setup involved moving to a 60-degree K* Grind lob wedge (@ 62), one of the most popular grinds on the PGA TOUR.
Instead of the full, smooth sole of the .06K Grind, the sole of the K* Grind features a steeper pre-wear on the leading edge to provide forgiveness from the square-faced position. K* also has heel, toe and trailing edge relief, which allows the leading edge to sit closer to the ground when the face is opened. And like all K Grind variations, K* has a wide sole that excels out of the bunker.
For Cameron Young, bunker performance was the primary motivation to move to K* in May of 2024 from his previous lower-bounce T Grind lob wedge setup: “The 62 is a 60 bent a little weak just to get the bounce right, but that's what I use mostly around the greens,” Young said. “So I've got a little bit more bounce than I used to have. Probably last time we did this, I was on a very low bounce version of it, and we went to this just to help improve bunker play... That one was a switch we made just over a year ago, PGA Championship Valhalla. I came to Aaron Dill and was having some issues and he said, ‘Hey, try this.’”
“What we've learned over the years of working with the best players in the world is anytime we start to add a little bit of width to the bottom of the golf club, that creates a little bit of easy height,” said Dill. “So we talk about the K Grind being the bunker-friendly club. [K*] is a little bit of the best of both worlds because at the same time of him wanting to have all of the ease that comes out of the bunker with the height, the spin, the stopping power, he still wants the versatility that he so desperately needs in those firmer conditions... when he has to open up that face, it has to look good. It has to sit close to the ground. So that's the beauty about the K* is we've got the width for the bunkers, we've got the polishing on the bottom that helps with those green side shots when you have to open up the face.”
Said Young: “I think I went 10 for 10 out of bunkers that week, and [K* has] been in ever since.”

YOUNG KEEPS IT ROLLING WITH PHANTOM 9.5R PUTTER

Young was lights out on the greens this week, gaining over 4.5 shots on the field with his Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R tour prototype putter (+4.813, 7th).
Young has played a Phantom putter for the entirety of his PGA TOUR career, gaming various head shapes and neck configurations since 2021. One reason he has gravitated towards the Phantom family is the stability and MOI provided by a larger mallet profile. The increased footprint also creates space for different alignment offerings, from direct features like his 9.5R gamer’s single black sightline to the more subtle angles and contours of the putter’s head shape and design.

“There’s an element of forgiveness to it that just I think in my head makes sense,” said long-time Phantom loyalist Cameron Young. “I’ve just grown to like the way that [Phantom mallets] look. I look at a blade now and I have more trouble lining it up.”
Last year, he made an early season move at the 2025 RBC Heritage from a plumbing neck (.2) to a jet neck (.5) within the 9R head shape, seeking more toe flow in his putting stroke.
“He’s always wanted to feel flow in the putter,” said Scotty Cameron Tour Rep Brad Cloke. “We’ve started in face-balanced mallets for him and we’ve kind of worked our way down to a point where he’s felt comfortable enough to feel the toe flow the way he wants it and get the release of the putter that he wants.”
Said Young: “I just felt like the middle of the face was more apparent to me [after the move] with a little bit more [face] rotation and a little bit more release into the ball. I felt like I just struck it more in the middle, which kind of helped my speed, made it roll a little tighter... I feel like I've putted better and better as my mechanics keep improving and as I get more familiar with it.”
The switch paid off. Young delivered the best putting season of his career in 2025, finishing the year 7th in Strokes Gained: Putting (+0.642 per round), T6 in Putting Average (1.704) and 4th in One-Putt Percentage (44.57%), while collecting his first TOUR win at the Wyndham Championship.
On Sunday, he used his gamer to roll in over 81 feet of putts, including a breaking 9’ 7” birdie putt on the 17th green that saw him reach the eventual winning 13-under total.

The South African’s final round was highlighted by a clutch birdie-eagle-birdie finish on Nos. 16-18, which saw him reach the winning 21-under number.
Nine of the top 10 finishers on the final leaderboard played a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, with a total of 83% of the field in Kempton Park teeing up a Titleist golf ball.

Titleist Introduces New AIM Designs for AVX, Tour Soft, Velocity and TruFeel Golf Balls

Testing has shown that players using Titleist AIM designs are up to 35% more precise in aligning their putts

Titleist expands upon its player-validated golf ball alignment offerings with the introduction of four new Alignment Integrated Marking (AIM) models to help golfers achieve more precise alignment on the greens.

Complementing the AIM designs already available on Pro V1, Pro V1x and Pro V1x Left Dash, the addition of four unique patterns on Titleist’s AVX, Tour Soft, Velocity and TruFeel models rounds out a complete lineup of advanced alignment designs across the entire golf ball family.

AVX and TruFeel models are both offered with new AIM 360 markings, custom printed around the circumference of the golf ball, while AIM Performance designs are featured opposite the sidestamp on both Tour Soft and Velocity, the fourth pole of design space on the golf ball. All four new Titleist AIM golf ball models are now available in golf shops worldwide and on Titleist.com.

“We’ve conducted significant testing around alignment tendencies and how accurate players are with different types of markings,” said Scott Cooper, Titleist’s Director of Golf Ball Product Development. “The data consistently shows improvement for most golfers when they align their putts with our AIM designs. When we talk about improved performance, it needs to be discernible and impactful to the golfer.”

"Interestingly, AIM is more valuable as you get farther from the hole,” said Frederick Waddell, Director of Golf Ball Product Management. “On a four-foot putt, you might be okay lining up your ball with a standard sidestamp because it's such a short putt. But as you go back to 12 feet or 16 feet, you could be off by up to a foot on either side of the hole as that dispersion cone gets wider. Precision Validated: Behind The Development Process for Aim Models

Before every new Titleist golf ball model is introduced, it must undergo rigorous testing to demonstrate discernible performance advantages for the golfer. Titleist Golf Ball R&D and manufacturing teams have approached advanced alignment designs with the same intentionality.

“Golfers expect Titleist to deliver real performance benefits, and that was our goal from the start,” Waddell said. “As we always do, we went to the PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour to understand their use of alignment features and preferred designs.”

Roughly 65% of Titleist golf ball players on the PGA TOUR mark their Pro V1 or Pro V1x with some kind of alignment cue. The first AIM Performance design, currently available on Pro V1 family models, was inspired by the most popular of those tour player additions: a long, straight line.

Titleist also extended AIM research to dedicated golfers, testing more unique, custom alignment features with Team Titleist members to gauge design appeal. There was clear interest, and not just from Pro V1 and Pro V1x players.

To assess the effectiveness of AIM designs, Titleist Golf Ball R&D developed a proprietary device that measured how precise golfers were in aligning their golf ball to a target in a controlled test. The new technology helped Titleist uncover thousands of data points around alignment tendencies through player testing.

Golfers were instructed to line up their golf ball to the hole using a variety of alignment cues, and precision was evaluated by measuring the left-right proximity of their aim to the hole through absolute angles. Results revealed a noticeably tighter alignment distribution for golfers using AIM alignment aids compared to those using a standard length sidestamp. Specifically, golfers using AIM were up to 35% more precise with their alignment.

Justin Rose Wins Wire-to-Wire at Torrey Pines by Seven Shots with His Pro V1x Golf Ball

In complete command of his Pro V1x golf ball, Justin Rose hit a field-best 82% greens in regulation at Torrey Pines on his way to a wire-to-wire, seven-shot victory, his 13th on the PGA TOUR.

Rose, the first player to hold the outright lead after all four rounds at this event since 1955, broke the 72-hole tournament scoring record with rounds of 62-65-68-70 (265) to finish the week at 23 under par.
Of his +8.673 strokes gained tee to green, over seven of them (+7.257) came on approach shots (on the three rounds tracked on Torrey Pines’ South Course).
He led the field with 26 birdies, including 10 of them during his bogey-free 62 on the North Course on Thursday.

JUSTIN ROSE REMAINS DIALED WITH 2025 PRO V1x

Justin Rose has now won twice on the PGA TOUR since moving to his 2025 Pro V1x golf ball early last season at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
During a session on the range at Bay Hill, Rose, who had been playing a higher-spinning Pro V1x+ prototype, found more optimal spin numbers throughout the bag with ‘25 Pro V1x.
He then brought it to the golf course, where he saw improved distance control and even better performance in the wind.
“It’s a great golf ball,” Rose said last summer. “I've kind of gone through the gears a little bit. I’ve gone from the lowest spinning end that Titleist makes to almost the highest spinning end. It is the perfect combination of high spin around the greens and that beautiful spin in my short irons. And then as I get towards the driver, the spin starts to come down for me. Maximum distance on the long end of the clubs, tons of spin with the short end of the game — so it gives me a lot of control everywhere.

“Links golf for example is all about flighting a golf ball. So in moments you want to have high spin, downwind or stopping on firm links turf, you need spin. And at other times you need to trust that you can take a little bit of spin off. Or if you’re making calculations into the wind, if you’re playing into a 10 mile per hour wind and in your head you go, ‘OK, this is going to take 20 to 25 yards off of the shot,’ you need to know that that spin rate’s consistent. “I have massively high demands of myself, and actually the way I try to operate with my swing at the moment is that I'm very, very, very precise with how I’m dealing with my baseline and my swing,” Rose said. “We’re kind of dealing with zeros, if I’m more than one degree out with my swing path, we're making adjustments to that. So obviously if I’m dealing with a degree of tolerance, I want to make sure that there’s something on the other end of that swing that has zero tolerance as well. The ball is your ultimate teacher. VOKEY SM11 MOMENTUM CONTINUES AT TORREY PINES, LAKE NONA

NEW Vokey Design SM11 wedges were once again the top choice of PGA TOUR players this week at Torrey Pines, following their debut as the most played wedge last week at The American Express.
On Thursday at the Farmers Insurance Open, 165 NEW SM11 wedges went into play (incl. PW), more than any competitor’s total number of wedges.
Last week, in SM11’s first week of availability, 52 players in the AmEx field put at least one new SM11 right in the bag (149 total).
Among those making the move to NEW SM11’s this week at Torrey Pines were Cameron Young (48.10F, 52.12F, 56.14F @ 57, WedgeWorks 60K* @ 62) and the 2025 RSM Classic champion (46.10F, 50.08F, 56.10S, 60.04T), both of whom added full sets.
Overall, Vokey wedges accounted for 54% of the gap, sand and lob wedges (234) in play at Torrey Pines.

Freddy Schott (Pro V1) captured his first DP World Tour title by winning a three‑man, all-Titleist golf ball playoff.

Schott, who closed in 3-under 69, was in total control of his Pro V1 golf ball, gaining +8.64 strokes tee to green (8th) while hitting 81% greens in regulation.
Each of the first three DPWT events of 2026 have been won by Titleist golf ball players.

SCHOTT LEADS TOP-8 SWEEP FOR TITLEIST GOLF BALL PLAYERS

Haydn Barron (Pro V1x) recorded rounds of 62-67-64-69 to secure a one-shot victory and his first career PGA Tour of Australasia title.

Barron’s week was highlighted by a first round 9-under 62 that included two eagles and six birdies and a bogey-free seven-under 64 in Round 3 to take a one-shot lead into Sunday.
The West Australian made four birdies in a steady Sunday performance, including a final one on the 13th hole to secure the win.
Barron was one of 109 players (76%) this week teeing up the #1 ball in golf, more than five times the nearest competitor with 20 (14%).
Titleist was also the most played driver, trusted by 60 players (42%).

SUNSHINE TOUR | SDC Open

Titleist Brand Ambassador MJ Viljoen birdied the 18th hole in regulation Sunday before birdieing it again on the first playoff hole to claim his fourth Sunshine Tour title.

The 30-year-old South African Viljoen, gaming his Pro V1x+ prototype golf ball and full bag of Titleist equipment including his GT metals, T100 irons, Vokey wedges and Scotty Cameron putter, made 23 birdies while posting rounds of 66-70-66-70.
Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball in Limpopo with 123 (79%) players teeing up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, more than six times the nearest competitor (20).
Titleist was also the most played driver (62/40%) in the 156-player field.

The world’s top-ranked player (Pro V1) started his 2026 season off with a four-shot win in the desert, cruising to his 20th career PGA TOUR title.

The champion, who has used his Pro V1 golf ball and a full set of Vokey Design wedges for every one of his PGA TOUR wins, is the second youngest player to reach the 20-win mark. He also did so in the second fewest number of starts (151).
This week at PGA West, he was in full control of his Pro V1, gaining +4.812 strokes tee-to green (6th) while hitting 82% GIR (T6).
On Sunday, he gained +1.880 strokes around the green (4th) on his way to closing 6-under 66.
His stellar ball-striking and short game put him in prime position to convert 32 birdies over the four rounds, the most of anyone in the field.

RYAN GERARD’S RUN CONTINUES AT AMEX

Nobody went lower than Titleist Brand Ambassador Ryan Gerard this weekend (64-65), as he vaulted up the leaderboard to finish T2 at 23 under.
Gerard’s runner-up finish comes on the heels of two solo-second results in his prior two worldwide starts: last week’s Sony Open and the DP World Tour’s Mauritius Open in December.
His performance in Mauritius earned him a spot in the Masters, as he climbed inside the top 50 in the OWGR by year’s end.
After this week, he is projected to rise to a career-best No. 23.

VOKEY SM11 IS MOST PLAYED WEDGE IN FIRST WEEK ON TOUR

Earning immediate validation at the game’s highest level, Titleist’s new Vokey Design SM11 wedges debuted this week on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour — immediately becoming the most played wedge model at both events.
In their first opportunity to game Vokey SM11’s in competition on the PGA TOUR, 52 players in the field at The American Express put at least one new SM11 right in the bag.
Many of them moved to full sets, including Russell Henley (48.10F, 50.08F, 54.10S, 60.04T), Ludvig Åberg (50.08F, 54.10S, WedgeWorks 60L), Johnny Keefer (46.10F, 50.12F, 54.10S, 60.04T), David Ford (46.10F, 50.12F, 54.10S, 60.04T), Michael Brennan (46.10F, 50.12F, 54.10S, 60.04T), Davis Riley (46.10F, 50.08F, 56.08M, WedgeWorks 60L), S.H. In total, there were 149 new SM11 wedges in play in La Quinta. That includes 121 gap, sand and lob wedges — more than double the nearest competitor’s total number (60).
Twenty-eight players also used Vokey SM11 pitching wedges, with two players gaming the new 44.10F model.
Of all the gap, sand and lob wedges in play this week in the desert, 56% (260 wedges) of them are Vokey Design, more than four times the nearest competitor (53).
Vokey wedges have been the most played wedge on the PGA TOUR since 2004.
On the DP World Tour, SM11 has made the same first impression. Thirty-four players added at least one new SM11 wedge to their setup – including runner-up Andy Sullivan (WedgeWorks 60K*) and third-place finisher Julien Guerrier (46.10F, 52.12F, WedgeWorks 58V) – with a total of 98 SM11 models going immediately into play in Dubai.

DP WORLD TOUR | Hero Dubai Desert Classic

The winner of the Dubai Desert Classic (Pro V1x) cruised to a four-shot victory, posting rounds of 69-66-67-72 to capture his fourth DPWT title and first Rolex Series victory.

The 2018 Masters Tournament winner was in full control of his Pro V1x golf ball, ranking first in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (+12.08).
Gaming his GT3 9.0° driver, he gained nearly three strokes (+2.96) off the tee. “It's so good...” he told Golf Monthly in October 2024. “I feel like when I mishit this one, it still has a little bit more speed in it and also stays a little bit straighter. So for me it sits really nicely and it gives me that confidence.”
He finished second in SG: Around the Green, gaining over five shots (+5.72) with his Pro V1x and Vokey SM10 sand (56.08M) and lob (60.04T) wedges.
This week in Dubai, the champion also returned to his Scotty Cameron Tour Rat 1.5 tour prototype – which he used to win his last two PGA TOUR victories (2020 WGC-Mexico Championship, 2021 Farmers Insurance Open) – rolling in 18 birdies (T2) to lead the field in Scoring Average (68.5).

PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS | Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai

Reigning Charles Schwab Cup champion Stewart Cink (Pro V1) picked up right where he left off, turning in three sub-67 rounds (66-63-64) to cruise to a three-shot victory in the Champions Tour’s season-opening event.

The win marked his fifth Champions Tour title.
Cink was dialed in from tee to green, ranking T1 in driving distance while hitting 80% GIR (T11) and scrambling at a 91% clip (T2).
The 52-year-old converted 24 birdies for the week, the most of any player in the field.

PGA TOUR OF AUSTRALASIA | Webex Players Series Victoria

Jordan Doull (Pro V1x) prevailed on the fourth extra hole, making one final birdie to clinch his second career PGA Tour of Australasia title.

This combination also produces higher launch on iron shots, helping players hold more greens through trajectory.

“So much of Tour Soft’s high performance is driven by its cover,” said Mike Madson, Senior Vice President of Titleist Golf Ball R&D. “And the reason that cover is able to exist is because of process advancements we’ve made over the years in Ball Plant 2 (North Dartmouth, Mass).

“Our materials team found a unique blend of softening agents for the cover that helps us produce lower long-game spin with surprising short-game performance. We are constantly machining new [dimple] cavities, manufacturing prototypes, and testing them both in a controlled environment as well as outdoors with our robots. Inside New Velocity’s Development

So you get that double shot of lower spin off the tee along with a faster cover, all contributing to more distance.”

Next, the team zeroed in on Velocity’s trajectory. Through edge angle and depth changes, Titleist engineers refined the design of Velocity’s 350 octahedral pattern to bring the ball flight down slightly, delivering a more penetrating flight that provides additional distance while maintaining ample stopping power into greens.

New full-face Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) inserts

Each 2026 Phantom mallet features a new full-face Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) insert with chain-link face milling, fine-tuning sound and feel while preserving ball speed off the face. SCS inserts first debuted in the 2025 Studio Style lineup after extensive testing to find the optimal combination of material and milling. Carbon steel, which has a greeter damping capacity than metal inserts like Teryllium, stainless steel and aluminum, softens sound by limiting the duration of the tone of the strike. The chain-link milling technology reduces the number of touchpoints with the golf ball at impact to further soften sound while maintaining feel and feedback for the golfer — a key hallmark of Scotty Cameron putters.

More neck and shaft configurations

Across the three head shapes, the new Phantom lineup offers five unique neck and shaft configurations, providing a wide range of options to match different stroke types and player preferences. Brand-new to the Phantom family is a low-torque Onset Center (OC) configuration in the Phantom 5 OC. This setup is ideal for players seeking a square, straight-back-and-through path with the head shape of the 5.

Also making its in-line debut is the double-bend shaft configuration of the Phantom 7. Designed with extensive tour player input, the double-bend provides a more face-balanced feel with an alternative look at address compared to the mid-bend shaft setup previously offered in the 7.

Phantom 5, 7 and 9R head shapes are all offered with a “.2” plumbing neck configuration for players seeking moderate toe flow. Phantom 5 and 9R models feature a mid-bend shaft while the 5 and 7 shapes are both offered in “.5” jet neck configurations as well for maximum toe flow.

Tour-influenced shaping

New Phantom putters feature several head shape and profile refinements, all of which were directly informed by tour player feedback.

Deeper faces and modified crowns: New Phantom putters have a taller height at face center and an increased radius on the topline, both of which affect subtle visuals at address and can translate to better path into the ball.

“Getting the right balance for face depth is important,” Rollinson said. “On this design, we decided to radius that top line. The heel and toe are the same height as they were before, but it's taller in the center to give the putter a really nice look from address.”

“The response has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Paul Vizanko, Scotty Cameron’s Director of Putter Fitting & Player Development, on tour player reactions to early prototypes. “Face height is an important variable, especially when you see players hitting up on the ball too much with a face that’s too shallow. This design looks just right at address.”

Redesigned soles: New Phantom putters feature a flatter sole design with more surface area to sole the putter consistently, particularly across different slopes and grass types. Justin Thomas played a key role in its development, providing feedback to create a shape that helps keep the putter soled in a solid and square position for a more repeatable setup.

Said Rollinson on Thomas’ input: “We learned a lot from working with him and decided to bring that element into this new design. The flat section of the sole is extended more so that no matter where the hands are, it's going to sit much more flush to the ground and not move around.”

Modified jet neck: The jet neck for the new Phantom 5.5 and 7.5 models features a less aggressive forward lean, producing a more subtle look at address. The new neck is longer to achieve the same offset and toe flow offered in the previous generation.

Phantom 9R

Scotty Cameron introduces three new models — the Santa Fe, Fastback 2 and Fastback 2 Long Design — to his Studio Style lineup, advancing his blade and mid-mallet family with new configurations for different toe flow profiles and putting stroke styles.

The Studio Style line, which features timeless Scotty Cameron blade shapes as well as ground-up mid-mallet redesigns, pushes performance forward through its Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) face inserts and chain-link face milling, delivering soft feel while preserving feedback for the golfer and ball speed off the putter face.

New additions to the Studio Style family include:

Studio Style Technology

Studio Carbon Steel inserts: Each Studio Style putter features a Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) face insert with chain-link face milling. With a greater damping capacity than other metal inserts like Teryllium, stainless steel and aluminum, carbon steel was selected after extensive testing for its ability to dial in exceptionally soft sound by limiting the duration of the tone of the strike. The insert also helps preserve ball speed off the face to help dial in distance control. An electroless nickel plating process was implemented for the Studio Style line to help enhance the durability of the SCS inserts.

Chain-link face milling: Also a result of thorough testing at the Scotty Cameron Putter Studio and on tour, chain-link face milling made its debut with the Studio Style lineup in 2025. The pattern, which helps reduce the number of touchpoints with the golf ball at impact, further softens sound while preserving player-preferred feedback at impact.

SM11: FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGY

The most complete lineup of tour-proven grinds

The Vokey SM11 lineup is comprised of an industry-leading 27 unique configurations of six tour-proven grinds: F, S, M, D, K and T. This variety allows any golfer to find the best wedge setup to fit their unique performance needs. Properly fit wedges help to improve contact (striking grooves two through five) and versatility, resulting in more consistent flight, increased spin and better shot-making ability around the greens.

“Wedges need to be versatile, and every player is different,” Master Craftsman Bob Vokey said. “It’s never one size fits all for wedges. That’s why we have many grind options. There is a wedge for every player.”

Additions and changes to the SM11 lineup:

The .06K Grind, which was used to win the PGA Championship and The Open Championship in 2025, will be in the SM11 lineup at launch (58.06K, 60.06K). The .06K provides an alternative low-bounce lob wedge option to the in-line T Grind (58.04T, 60.04T).
New to the lineup is the 44.10F, ideal for golfers who prefer the performance and profile of a Vokey pitching wedge but require a stronger loft than 46 degrees to properly gap their set.
The higher-bounce K Grind lob wedge (58.12K, 60.12K) now features 12 degrees of bounce, having measured at 14 degrees previously. The .12K Grind has the same effective bounce as the .12D Grind, but the two grinds feature different sole designs targeted at different playing styles and course conditions.

Precise CG positioning

In previous Vokey wedge designs, center of gravity (CG) positions varied slightly across grinds within the same loft due to differences in sole widths and geometries. With SM11, Vokey engineers worked to create identical CG placements within a given loft, independent of grind. This allows for consistent flight and feel while eliminating a variable in the fitting process.

“With SM11, all the CGs within a loft are now at the same exact point,” said Kevin Tassistro, Titleist R&D’s Director of Wedge Development. “So when golfers get fit into the right grind — whichever grind that is — and they're finding grooves two through five [with their strike], the ball will meet the CG in the correct spot.”

Progressive CG throughout the set

For lower-lofted wedges (44-52 degrees), the CG is positioned lower and closest to face center for a smooth transition from a player’s iron set and to eliminate excessive draw movement on full shots. In the higher-lofted wedges (58-60 degrees), CG is higher and more heel-ward, producing a lower flight and a squarer clubface. Sand wedge lofts (54-56 degrees) have a CG position that sits comfortably between the two.

Three shot-specific groove shapes, increased groove volume

Similar to its progressive CG, the lineup has three distinct groove shapes which vary based on loft. Lob wedge lofts (58-60) feature wider and shallower grooves to better channel debris around the greens and on partial shots, whereas pitching and gap wedge lofts (44-52) feature narrower and deeper grooves for better performance on full-swing shots. Bridging the gap between designs is the groove profile on lofts 54-56.

SM11’s Spin Milled grooves feature 5% more volume than SM10’s grooves due to improvements in manufacturing and tighter tolerances. This helps to clear more debris and retain spin, especially from the rough or in wet conditions.

New directional face texture

SM11 features a new directional face texture which provides increased friction and prolonged ball contact. More time with the ball on the club face allows SM11’s grooves to impart more reliable spin control on delicate greenside shots. The texture, angled towards the leading edge, also protects the scorelines and keeps groove edges clean and consistent.

High-frequency heat treatment

All grooves wear over time, but Vokey’s Spin Milled wedges undergo a high-frequency heat treatment applied directly to the impact area, doubling the durability of the groove edge compared to untreated grooves. This helps maintain high spin, control and stopping power for as long as possible.

“The heat treatment is applied to the scorelines, right in the impact area,” Tassistro said. “We want to preserve those groove edges to the best of our ability so that SM11 players can prolong the life of their wedge and play their best golf for longer.”

SM11 scorelines are also 100% inspected to ensure the highest quality standards and tightest tolerances.

Vokey Wedges on TOUR

Since the very beginning, tour player feedback has been at the core of the development of Vokey Design wedges. The best golfers in the world are extremely discerning with what they look for with their wedge play, and their input is essential in driving Vokey wedge performance forward with each new generation.

The result of this constant feedback loop can be seen in the validation of Vokey wedges at the game’s highest level; Vokey wedges have been the most played wedge on the PGA TOUR since 2004.

In 2025 alone:

INSIDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW AVX

Golfer feedback is at the core of the development process for all Titleist golf balls, and when Titleist asked AVX players what they would want to see in the next generation model, the consensus answer was increased greenside spin.

“AVX golfers are very clear about why they play AVX. They like the long distance, the low long-game spin and especially the soft feel. These players are looking for specific performance attributes,” said Frederick Waddell, Titleist’s Director of Golf Ball Product Management. “They were also telling us that if they could get more of anything with AVX, it was short-game spin and control, as long as it didn't compromise the other aspects of AVX that they love.”

To do so, Titleist engineers had to steepen AVX’s “spin slope,” or the differential between long-game spin and short-game spin that a golf ball produces. Increasing or decreasing spin at one end of the bag without impacting the other is a difficult task, but AVX’s construction provides Titleist engineers with several pathways to explore in the design process.

“The advantage of AVX is that it’s a three-piece golf ball,” said Mike Madson, Senior Vice President of Titleist Golf Ball R&D. “Having the core, the casing layer and the cover gives you more options to influence performance. Whenever we're targeting spin, we can look at each piece and consider its dimensions, formulations, hardness, materials... But to really hone in on greenside spin, the cover becomes the focus.”

Increased short-game spin was ultimately unlocked through a new reformulated urethane cover, which is thicker than that of the prior generation. This new cover delivers better spin and control around the greens with an even softer feel. Its thicker dimensions are complemented by a thinner high flex casing layer, which helps dial in spin rates from distance.

The core of new AVX was then reformulated to deliver more speed, which was key in balancing the cover changes and providing the long distance and low long-game spin that AVX players expect.

“These soft-over-hard, hard-over-soft relationships really drive spin performance for all golf ball models,” Madson said. “A soft cover over a firm casing layer adds spin on shorter shots where the cover plays the biggest role. Then you have a firm casing layer over a softer core, which lowers spin when you get to those higher-speed impacts like a driver or hybrid. With AVX, it's really every piece of its construction that we’re using to fine-tune spin and give AVX players exactly what they’re looking for with this ball.”

AVX: PURE DISTANCE, TOUR-INSPIRED SPIN

AVX is recommended for players seeking long distance, low spin and a penetrating flight in the long game along with impressive stopping power into the green and very soft feel.

Compared to Pro V1, AVX will fly in a lower window in the long game with lower spin and an even softer feel.

Titleist Introduces NEW Pro V1x Left Dash (–Pro V1x) Golf Balls

Over four years in the making, the new Pro V1x Left Dash (designated by –Pro V1x on its sidestamp) is the result of an uncompromising Titleist R&D process that demands that every new generation must deliver discernible performance improvements.

“We won’t introduce a product just because it’s new,” said Mike Madson, Senior Vice President of Titleist Golf Ball R&D. “It has to be better, and it has to be validated by players.”

The development of the original Pro V1x Left Dash in 2018 as a Custom Performance Option (CPO) responded to an increasing trend of players looking to maximize distance off the tee while still maintaining the requisite control and stopping power into and around the greens to compete at an elite level. In 2019, at Pinehurst No. 2, Left Dash was used to win the U.S. Amateur Championship. In 2024, on the same course, Left Dash was the choice of the U.S. Open champion.

INSIDE THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS FOR NEW PRO V1x LEFT DASH

The journey of the new Pro V1x Left Dash, from iterative prototyping to competition-ready product, offers a clear example of Titleist’s commitment to providing golfers with improved performance with each new generation.

The development process for the new Pro V1x Left Dash began in earnest over four years ago, with Titleist R&D designing several promising prototypes over the first year. In April of 2023, one of those prototypes had been identified as a likely finalist. Fordie Pitts, Titleist’s Director of Tour Research and Validation, brought it to the PGA TOUR to test with Left Dash players.

“During that testing, we heard a few comments that started to give us the indication that maybe we weren't going down the right path,” Pitts said. “The prototype felt great. It had good speed and distance, but the spin was creeping up too high in the short irons. In our minds, all it really was doing is moving the product closer to our stock Pro V1x, and it was straying from Left Dash’s DNA.”

The development team decided to go back to the drawing board, reimagining new Left Dash’s performance north star.

“We learned from players that the path we went down was not going to be optimal for what they were looking for in the product,” Waddell said. “So we started to zero in on why they love Left Dash. It’s the speed, the distance, the low spin. We completely shifted gears to focus our efforts there, resulting in a faster, longer Pro V1x Left Dash, with spin optimized for this player.”
